by Dominique Morisseau
directed by Lisa Gaye Dixon
SIGN UP for a group audition slot!!

Performances: February 6–16, 2025
Auditions: Saturday, December 7, 11am-2:30pm

About the play: At the start of the Great Recession, one of the last auto stamping plants in Detroit is on shaky ground. Each of the workers have to make choices on how to move forward if their plant goes under. Shanita has to decide how she'll support herself and her unborn child, Faye has to decide how and where she'll live, and Dez has to figure out how to make his ambitious dreams a reality. Power dynamics shift as their manager Reggie is torn between doing right by his work family, and by the red tape in his office. Powerful and tense, Skeleton Crew is the third of Dominique Morisseau's Detroit cycle trilogy.

The Skeleton Crew cast consists of four Black characters (2 female and 2 male), ages 20s-50s. All roles are available, plus four understudies. Callbacks, if needed, are scheduled for Sunday, Dec 8th at 11am. NOTE: Skeleton Crew contains strong language.

To Audition: You will be asked to perform readings from the script at the audition. Please review the sides and look at all character descriptions below before auditioning. We will have actors read several times in different combinations and scenes. You may be asked to “work” on a scene with a scene partner before performing it. You may be asked to read for multiple roles. You will be able to watch each other's scenes. The Station Theatre strives to make our productions open to all levels of actors regardless of experience. We aim to make the audition a fun and relaxed experience.

4 understudies, one for each role - These roles are critical in the case that we have actors unexpectedly unable to perform a show due to illness or another cause. These will be script-in-hand understudy roles which means you do not need to fully memorize the show. You will be required to attend 4 rehearsals, but are encouraged to attend as many as possible, in order to be as familiar as possible with the character, blocking, etc. These 4 rehearsals include:  First rehearsal on Dec. 9th, two run throughs in mid-late January TBD, and one tech on Feb. 3 to make sure you understand the staging for the character you are understudying. Understudies also must be in town and available during the scheduled performances. You are welcome to attend any rehearsals and activities for the show.

Note on Rehearsals: First rehearsal will be December 9th. Rehearsals will tentatively run Monday-Thursday evenings (subject to change pending casting). We will have one Sunday rehearsal Dec. 22nd, and one Friday rehearsal Jan. 3rd, but will be off for the holidays Dec. 24 - Jan 1. Not all actors will be called every night but ALL will be called the first 4 nights (12/9-12/12) for table work before we get on our feet. All rehearsals beginning Dec. 16 will be at The Station Theatre. Dec. 9th - 12th rehearsals location TBD.  Actors will work with the Director and Stage Manager regarding scheduling for rehearsals. About the show:
Assassins, is a journey through the dark side of the American dream. Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Tony-winning musical Assassins has a haunting score and narrative that explores the lives of nine individuals who assassinated or attempted to assassinate the President of the United States, in a one-act historical "revusical" that explores the dark side of the American experience. From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald, the rules of time and space are bent, taking us on a nightmarish roller coaster ride in which assassins and would-be assassins from different historical periods meet, interact and inspire each other to attempt their harrowing acts in the name of “the American Dream.”

NOTE: Assassins contains strong language, adult themes, prop guns, political imagery and themes related to gun violence and the use of a racial slur. The production also may utilize flashing lighting effects, projection media and possibly the use of theatrical haze and smoke (tbd).
